Great Mystery of Godliness: KJV and Mysteries of the Bible

The truth is God has secrets, and that is a fact you will come to realize when you read the Bible.

Deuteronomy 29 verse 29: “The secret things belong to the lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever. So that we may do all the words of his law”.

This is God’s universe, and he knows all things. Even things that are not known to Angels. But, as you begin to read the Bible, you realize that the Bible is book of mysteries and God reveals them to us.

Greek word for mystery and secret

The word mystery is the Greek word “Mysterion”, which meant to initiate into the mysteries. In example to make known special secrets.

Mysterion means a secret, or teaching which the initiate in this case would be God, knows but no one else knows. The route idea then is information known only to those on the inside, but hidden to those who are without. It refers to information, which has been kept secret, veiled, but now has been revealed.

There are several mysteries in the spirit realm that no human mind has explanations for, but sometimes God will deliberately grant us the revelation of some Mysteries. An instance was when Christ told his disciples that they were given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God while he spoke in parables.

Mark 4 verse 11: “and he said to them to you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside all things come in parables”.

Mysteries can only be unraveled through Divine Revelations.

Fortunately, every believer has the mystery of godliness at work in him, or her. The mystery of godliness is a reference to the power, that enables a christian to live Godly in this polluted world. The problem of sin is universal.

In fact, everyone born of a woman is born a sinner, therefore sin is a spiritually transmissible by the entire human race.

No one has ever had to take a class, on how to sin one on one. We are born with that ability in built into us.

However, there is a mystery at work in us that enables us to work triumphantly over sin.

The greatest power in the world, is that by which a sinner has turned into a saint, and this mystery is expression in believers by the indwelling of the holy spirit in them.

The Holy Spirit activates in us the grace and power to live without a blemish, in a world of sin and filthiness.

The Bible says, that although we are in the world, we are not of the world.

We are only sojourners on the earth.

We are citizens of Heaven.

Therefore the Kingdom’s lifestyle of Heaven is lived out through the help of the Holy Spirit at work in us.

An ego cannot flock together with chicks, so we must not be unequally yoked with the people of the world.

We should all seek to have godliness exhibited in our lives.

This world is not our home, it opposes God and His will and ways. Our home is in heaven.

Philippians 3 verse 20 says: “for our conversation is in heaven from whence also we look for the Savior the Lord Jesus Christ”.

Although we are here on earth, our affection must not be set on the things that are mundane. The Book of Romans 12 verse 2 warns as not to conform to the pattern of this world, but that we should continually renew our minds, so as to walk continually in the will of God.

It is our responsibility to crucify our flesh and renew our minds.

God will not do that for us.

1st Timothy 3 verse 16 says: “and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness”. God was manifest In the Flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed on in the world received up into Glory.

What exactly is it that God kept a secret from us?

It was exhibited when God’s son came to the world took on flesh lived to honor God the Father preached the will and ways of God and was glorified.

That is the godliness we seek, and Jesus has given us the power to have such godliness.

He has given us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us and subsequently he has given us the strength to overcome the world, just as he overcame the world. Moreover, before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he gave us the promise of the Holy Spirit through which we will be empowered to be his witnesses on Earth.

Witnessing about Christ on Earth, is not limited to preaching the gospel. We can be Witnesses of the Holiness and righteousness of Christ on Earth. As believers, our lives should reflect the Holiness and character of Christ, because other people need to see Jesus in us. Jesus had the testimony, that the prince of this world came to him, but found nothing of his in him.

Christ lived on earth as a man

He was tempted in all ways, as we are yet without sin. The same Grace that sustained Christ while he was physically present on Earth, is now at work in Believers through the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8 verse 11 says: “but if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelled in you”.

This passage is not just applicable to the event of the resurrection of the dead.

The quickening of our mortal bodies is inclusive of the grace, which helps us live above the pleasures of sin.

By the quickening of the Holy Spirit, believers have the ability to subject their flesh to discipline.

When we think we are not able to do something, or we feel we can’t overcome something, and then we find the strength to do so, we should marvel at the great mystery of godliness.

The spirit that leads, guides, convicts sanctifies and ultimately comforts us in all we do. He sanctifies us until we go home.

The enabling grace of the Holy Spirit, and the Mystery of godliness will continually be at work in believers until Christ returns.

The Holy Spirit will keep strengthening us to overcome every trial and temptation that comes our ways.

The mystery of godliness, is beyond the comprehension of unbelievers.

They do not understand how a man can live victoriously above sin. Unbelievers will keep wondering about our spiritual status, until they come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2 verse 13 says: “It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”.

Humanly speaking, we do not have any force to resist sin, for we are sinners by default.

However, God turns the vilest Sinner into st. through the gospel of Christ and sustains that spiritual status by the help of the Holy Spirit.

He is the helper, he is the one who comes to empower and encourage you. So I ask you today. Are you struggling with sin? Ask for the Holy Spirit.

Are you cast down and forgotten? Asked to be filled with his Spirit

he will come.

There is one word of Jesus, I want you to pay attention to and we find this word in John 14 verse 16.

“Jesus said and I will pray the father and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever”.

The word I want you to focus on is another.

In the Greek language, there are two words for the word another.

One means, another of the same kind, and the other means another of a different kind. The word that is used here is the word another of the same kind.

So, what Jesus was saying here was, God the father will give you a helper exactly like me.

The Holy Spirit is to us, what Jesus was to his disciples when he was here on Earth.

Now, I want you to look at all the problems, the disciple faced in their lives when Jesus was there.

But Jesus was always there ready to help.

That is what the Holy Spirit is to us.

When you are going to the office, he is with you on the bus, in the car.

Everywhere you go, the holy spirit of God is with you.

Jesus did not leave you alone or as an orphan.

This is why Jesus said to us, it is expedient that I go away. If he stayed he wouldn’t have been able to stay with each of us all the time. But the Holy Spirit can.
